Your living room furniture should be well complimented with accessories such as drapes, curtains and light fixtures. If you are going for the minimalistic look, the drapes and curtains should also be subtle. The colors that you choose for your drapes should match the other upholstery in the room. To provide cross ventilation, I would have some good lighting arrangements. LED lights would be my choice with a couple of focus lights.
Redecorate. Like most other areas of the home, a fresh coat of paint can be magical in the living room; choose a paint color that is easy to accessorize such as pastels and neutral hues. Then, bright-colored furniture, throw pillows or window treatments can give contrast and change the overall flavor of the room without much effort.. Minimalist light fixtures can add a dash of sophistication or layers of warmth to an otherwise dull space.
Firstly, if you have hard flooring in your living room this is generally bad news for sound! However by placing a large fluffy rug about half-way between the front speakers of your system, and your seating positions, you are providing an 'absorption mat' thus giving a cleaner quality to any sound that is projected downwards from your speakers. A subwoofer (bass speaker) should not be placed on a hard floor as it can cause booming which will overwhelm the subtlety of the bass notes, so if you have hard flooring then try positioning it on a piece of carpet.
